OVER ZERO
Iva Gjorgjievska
The animated short film Over zero explores the relationship between people and their dependency on technology, hinting at the feeling of purposelessness through themes of nihilism and the absurd. The narrative follows a dinosaur, a form of digital consciousness inspired by the offline Google Chrome game.
The dinosaur is a metaphoric manifestation of the advancement of technology, as well as social alienation. As a lone traveler, he explores the deserted lands of what was once the internet, where he is faced with silence and the continuous search for deeper purpose. The death of the internet is not inherently the end, merely a continuation of the technological advancement and the inevitable self-destruction, both of humanity and technology.
